What will my first session be like?
You will receive a warm welcome and then we will sit and talk and get to know one another a little. The foundation of any therapy is the relationship with the therapist. Choosing who you work with is an important part of the process. If after our first session you feel we are a good fit then you can give me a brief outline of what brought you to therapy and what you feel you need, and then we can both take some time to consider the next steps.
Can you help with…
There are many and varied issues that impact us and the best way to discover if I can help is to email me and then we can have a conversation about what can work. The list in the About My Practice section offers you a starting point.
Will I have to tell you everything?
There is never an expectation or pressure to talk about anything you don’t want to talk about. Your story is your story, and you get to choose what you tell me. My role is to listen and help you to understand your experience.
Will everything I say be confidential?
Your trust is very important to me and to the process of therapy. Discussing the boundaries and limitations of confidentiality will be the first thing we do together, before we start to look at the things you would like to work on. In summary: everything you say to me is confidential and there are exceptions to this which are mainly centred around safeguarding. A full safeguarding policy is available by following the link at the bottom of the page. In addition, all your data will be stored in accordance with the 2018 data protection act and with GDPR legislation. A copy of my information retention policy is also available by following the link at the bottom of the page.
How long does a session last and how often can I come?
For new clients there is an initial session of half an hour and then subsequent sessions are an hour.Generally, clients choose to come once a week, however we will know more when we meet and can choose a frequency of sessions that is right for you and the work you want to do.
Do you offer online, telephone or in person sessions?
I offer online sessions using video call and in person sessions.
Could you offer a reduced rate?
There are some circumstances where a reduced rate may be possible. However, having a financial investment in the process is a useful thing. I would want to have an in-depth conversation about it and make no promises prior to that.
Do you work with Children?
I only work with adults at this current time.
Do you do couples therapy?
Not at the moment.
How much are sessions and how do I pay?
New clients pay £20 for an initial half hour session and then £40 per session for all subsequent sessions.
